Naoki Shimazaki joined the Corporate and Securities Group at GCA Law Partners LLP in 2009. His practice is focused on venture capital financings (with a particular emphasis on representing strategic corporate investors), mergers and acquisitions, and cross-border investments, joint ventures and strategic alliances. He also provides advice on general legal matters on behalf of the U.S. operations of Japanese companies as well as local startup companies.

Mr. Shimazaki is fluent in Japanese and has eight years of experience working in Japan, where he had been a licensed Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi. Prior to joining GCA, Mr. Shimazaki had been a partner at Morrison & Foerster LLP in Palo Alto, California and at Pillsbury Winthrop LLP in Palo Alto and Tokyo, Japan. He started his legal career at O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Shimazaki received his B.A. degree in Economics and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Davis. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a J.D. degree from the UCLA School of Law and an M.B.A. degree from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
