Kathryn C. Curry joined GCA Law Partners LLP in June 2008. Before joining GCA, Ms. Curry was a partner at Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley, where she had practiced since 1991. Ms. Curry specializes in counseling clients and defending actions subject to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). She also advises clients regarding employee benefits, including statutory and regulatory compliance as well as the design, implementation, and operation of benefit plans and employment policies and procedures. Ms. Curry’s practice also includes general and commercial litigation and civil appeals.

Ms. Curry has litigated numerous cases in state and federal court, handling all aspects of litigation from initial pleadings, through trial, and on appeal, including oral arguments before the First, Second and Sixth Appellate Districts of California. She has successfully tried several actions and negotiated many settlements through a variety of alternative dispute resolution procedures. She has been retained by clients to provide coverage opinions, conduct independent audits, and provide counsel on claims handling practices as well as statutory and regulatory compliance. Ms. Curry has also represented clients in administrative hearings before state, federal, and regulatory agencies.

Ms. Curry received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987. She received a Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude in 1991. In 2005, Ms. Curry was selected by Bay Area Lawyer Magazine as one of the Bay Area’s Best Lawyers. She was also a speaker at the Lexis-Nexis Mealey’s California Bad Faith Seminar, March 2007.

Ms. Curry is admitted to practice before all California courts and the federal courts in the Eastern, Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the California Bar Association, the Santa Clara County Bar Association, and the Northern California Association of Defense Counsel.
