25th Anniversary
Here we note references to our firm in the press as well as activities of our professional staff. GCA in the News

Benefits, Compensation and ERISA partner Ami Givon has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, in the Weekend Investor section several times. In the article “Tax Court Slaps Down IRAs Holding ‘Alternative Assets’” appearing on May 17, 2013, he is quoted extensively. In the February 2, 2013 edition, he is quoted in the article “Is that a Condo in your IRA?” In the March 2, 2012 edition, his comments are in the article “IRAs Get Sexier.”

In the Silicon Valley Business Journal Book of Lists 2013 ranking of law firms by number of full-time attorneys based in Silicon Valley, GCA ranks 35th.

GCA’s Employment Law Practice Group appears as number 8 among Employment Law firms in Silicon Valley, as ranked in the Silicon Valley Business Journal Book of Lists 2013.


Speaking Engagements

Litigation partner E. David Marks regularly presents seminars to professionals in the real estate industry. In May 2013 he is speaking on “Insurance Coverage and Contracts” to the Western Construction Consultants Association (“WestCon”) meeting in Berkeley, CA. In February 2013 he presented seminars entitled “Disclosures, Advertisements and Other Pitfalls in Sales Transactions” and “Issues with New Construction” to residential real estate agents in local Coldwell Banker offices.

Litigation partner Jeffrey Lee spoke about trade secret theft under federal criminal law in a presentation entitled "The Economic Espionage Act of 1996: Issues and Developments," at the Bar Association of San Francisco on June 5, 2010 in connection with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association's Western Regional Conference.

Elizabeth Roth and Barbara Tanzillo have made several training presentations to clients on Sexual Harassment, in compliance with California's now mandated interactive training and education for supervisory employees regarding sexual harassment (CA Government Code section 12950.1).


Community Activities

Corporate partner Clifford S. Robbins was recently appointed to a second term as a Commissioner on the City of San Mateo Park and Recreation Commission. He also is an elected member of the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee where he serves on the executive board.

On July 10, 2012, Litigation partner Jeffrey K. Lee was appointed by the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors to the Independent Monitoring Committee, which provides annual oversight reports to the District Board and Santa Clara County residents. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Asian Americans for Community Involvement, Inc. (AACI), Santa Clara County’s largest community-based organization providing health and human services to the Asian community.

On January 10, 2012, Litigation partner Robert W. Luckinbill was appointed by the Santa Clara City Council to be a Commissioner on the city’s Historical & Landmarks Commission.  His term runs through June 30, 2015.
