Laura Blakely joined GCA Law Partners LLP as Of Counsel in August, 2009. She is a member of the Commercial Law practice group. Ms. Blakely is a transactional attorney. Her practice emphasizes structuring, drafting and negotiating all aspects of secured lending transactions for both institutions and private entities who lend to corporate sector clients. She also handles matters on behalf of borrowers, and advises on bank regulatory and lender licensing matters.
Ms. Blakely joined GCA from Square 1 Bank where she was a founder and served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President for four years. Prior to Square 1, she worked as Special Counsel with Cooley Godward. Before that, she was Associate General Counsel with Comerica Bank as lead counsel for its Technology and Life Sciences lending unit, and prior to its acquisition by Comerica, served as lead counsel for Imperial Bank’s Emerging Growth Division.
Ms. Blakely received her J.D. from U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law in 1987, and graduated cum laude with a B.A. from Yale University in 1982. She is licensed to practice in California.
