Deborah Miller is a transactional attorney with over 30 years of experience advising high-tech and other clients, large and small, regarding a wide range of business contracts and providing preventive law counseling. She takes a pragmatic approach to drafting and negotiating contracts and finding solutions to problems, and provides legal support to her clients in a responsive, efficient, and cost effective manner.
Ms. Miller represents clients in a variety of legal matters, including:
- Software and technology licenses
- Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements
- Sales and distribution agreements (such as channel partner, OEM, and end user)
- Independent contractor and services agreements (both providing and receiving services)
- Sales representative agreements
- Development agreements
- Contract manufacturer agreements
- Nondisclosure agreements
Before becoming a partner at GCA Law Partners in 2000, Ms. Miller spent 11 years at 3Com Corporation in Santa Clara, California, most recently as Associate General Counsel for Americas Sales, Service and Marketing, leading a practice group of seven attorneys. Prior to that, she was an attorney with GTE Southwest in Irving, Texas, and a Hearings Examiner and Administrative Law Judge for the Texas Public Utility Commission in Austin for almost five years.
Ms. Miller volunteers with the League of Women Voters, working on its Voter’s Edge California voters guide.
Ms. Miller earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she was Assistant Editor for the Law Review and Co-President of the McAuliffe Honor Society. She earned an MBA in Marketing with a secondary emphasis in Business and Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. She earned her B.A. with High Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is licensed to practice law in California and Texas.
