Ami Givon joined GCA Law Partners LLP in June 2005 and specializes in benefits, compensation and ERISA matters. He counsels clients on a full array of matters involving qualified pension and profit sharing plans, fiduciary responsibility, tax-sheltered annuities, executive compensation, IRAs, Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor audits of benefit plans, ERISA issues in mergers and acquisitions and estate planning for retirement benefits. His clients include both for-profit and tax-exempt employers, plan trustees and other ERISA fiduciaries, hedge funds, investment managers and IRA custodians. Before joining GCA, Mr. Givon was a partner at Sideman & Bancroft LLP in San Francisco.

Mr. Givon has spoken and written frequently on IRS audits and resolution programs, retirement plans for tax-exempt organizations and governmental entities, ERISA fiduciary matters, IRAs, ERISA issues for hedge funds and other topics. He has authored several comment letters to the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor on deferred compensation and ERISA issues.

Mr. Givon received his bachelor’s degree (with highest honors) from the University of California at Berkeley, his law degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and his LL.M. (Taxation) from Golden Gate University. He is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries and the Western Pension & Benefits Council, San Francisco Chapter.  He has served on the Chapter’s board of directors.
